Ceramics Lessons

I deliver tailor-made lessons here at my pottery in Ellerton, for adults and children. The throwing lesson is very popular. In just two to three hours anyone can learn how to throw pots on the wheel. I will take you through the stages of throwing and provide expert tuition to make the lesson fun and productive. Two or three of the best pots can be glazed in a white glossy glaze and collected from the pottery at a later date. Or book a short decorating lesson afterwards.

Cost £30 per hour. Lessons are twice the fun if shared – in this case the second person only pays £20 per hour so it makes a great deal! Lessons available during the week, at weekends or in the evenings. Gift vouchers available.

No experience necessary – just enthusiasm. Please email for further details.

 Throwing 3

Throwing Pots on the Wheel – Day course

An intensive full day learning how to throw pots allows the opportunity to learn and then practice your throwing skills. In the morning I will guide you through the stages involved and give expert guidance. We then break for a well-earned 3 course lunch – vegetarian and with an emphasis on tasty healthy dishes.

In the afternoon you will refine your throwing and make more bowls/vases increasingly independently.          It’s also possible to fast dry one pot in order to learn how to apply decoration. This might be bands of colour or applied motifs.

A few pots from each session that are glazed and fired by me, making them practical and suitable for everyday use. Eating from your own bowls is such a pleasure! No experience necessary and everyone can do it – including children.

Dates to be arranged to suit –  weekdays or weekends

9:30am – 4:30pm

Cost £120 per person to inc all materials and firings plus a healthy 3 course lunch to keep you sustained.      Minimum 2 people

This is what people have said about the lessons.

Just a quick note to say I finally have an equipped pottery studio and am really enjoying using it. My throwing is improving (as it always will be) to the point my pots look like pots. So… I wanted to say a big thank you for the lessons you gave me. It really gave me a good start and the confidence to keep trying. So much still to learn but enjoy every session.   Annie Jowett
