Way back in the Spring my pottery was taken over by an ITV film crew working on 60 Minute Makeover.
I had been selected to be a featured artist on a show and decided to make a large Landscape bowl. The director requested we explain the whole story of making the bowl – from my walk to work (over the lawn!) to preparation of the clay, throwing and turning the bowl, through to decorating, glazing and finally a flourish whilst I removed the bowl from the kiln.
Now, anyone who knows ceramics realises this processes takes at least a week, and so condensing it into 4 hours of filming required a few “this is one I prepared earlier” moments in true Blue Peter fashion. The section on the programme lasted only last 2 and half minutes and was shown on 11th Nov at 2pm on ITV. Available on catch up ITV player. The house owner Sheila is a lovely lady and very deserving of this VIP treatment – think she was thrilled with her house makeover and the bowl.
It was nerve wracking at times but lots of fun and I am very happy to be supporting such a brilliant concept – giving a real boost to people who have had difficult times. Should you wish to purchase one of the fine and famous Landscape bowls please email firstname.lastname@example.org – or comment on Facebook Jill Ford. It’s an extra large bowl for holding a stack of fruit – or just to look pretty on display. Price £160.
